The role

We're seeking a strategic and execution-oriented engineering leader to establish and scale our Model Release function. This is part of our mission to build a best in class, vehicle-agnostic and highly performant autonomy stack. This role will be pivotal in defining what makes a model “releasable,” and ensuring our decision-making, validation, and triage processes are robust, measurable, and aligned with our broader roadmap and safety goals. You will lead the Model Release team, drive alignment across engineering and product, and act as a key decision-maker for baseline performance and safety-critical releases.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and own the end-to-end model release process, including validation, triage, baseline reporting, and release approvals.
  • Deliver key artifacts such as baseline performance reports, safety-critical intervention metrics, and geo-expansion analysis.
  • Establish a clear decision-making framework based on cadence, coverage, and confidence.
  • Drive triage efforts to surface root causes of regressions and track resolution.
  • Define and implement key metrics to evaluate driving performance
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team focused on release, testing, and validation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across autonomy teams to define release criteria, risk thresholds, and approval processes.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Senior Manager of Model Release at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • You bring a deep understanding of validation, testing, and triage, including how to design meaningful tests, measure performance, and catch regressions early.
  • You take ownership of processes and outcomes, and you’ve scaled structured, repeatable workflows that balance risk, velocity, and quality.
  • You have strong systems thinking and sound technical judgment, allowing you to evaluate model readiness across complex, multi-layered autonomy systems.
  • You have led high-performing teams in fast-paced, safety-critical environments, with a track record of delivering reliable infrastructure and process improvements.
  • You excel at communicating with diverse stakeholders and can align engineering, product, and safety perspectives around a shared release decision.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with ML deployment challenges: understanding the nuances of model variability, instability, and how model changes differ from traditional software updates.
  • Experience with autonomy stacks or robotics systems: especially in areas involving evaluation, validation, or real-world testing.
  • Strong data literacy and analytical mindset: comfortable defining performance metrics, setting thresholds, and reasoning from large-scale testing results.

This is a full-time role based in our office in Sunnyvale.  At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home.   We operate core working hours so you can determine the schedule that works best for you and your team.

Wayve is committed to creating an inclusive interview experience. If you require any accommodations or adjustments to participate fully in our interview process, please let us know

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences and that not everyone will meet all of the requirements listed above. If you’re passionate about self-driving cars and think you have what it takes to make a positive impact on the world, we encourage you to apply.
