The role
As the Tech Lead, Full Stack Engineer for the Fleet Management team, you will be at the forefront of designing, building, and evolving the internal platform that enables Wayve to manage a fleet of autonomous vehicles at scale. Your work will empower our operations, engineering, and research teams by providing seamless software and configuration deployment, real-time vehicle monitoring, experiment orchestration, and comprehensive fleet analytics.
This team is solving unique full-stack challenges in the domain of fleet management, handling everything from cloud infrastructure to on vehicle embedded APIs to intuitive web interfaces that provide deep visibility into vehicle performance. Unlike traditional enterprise tooling, the systems you build will directly impact the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our autonomous fleet, ensuring that our vehicles are always running optimally with the latest software and configurations.
Success in this role will significantly enhance Wayve’s ability to iterate quickly, deploy cutting-edge AI models, and gain deep insights into the performance of our autonomous systems.
This role is part of the Vehicle Software Engineering team and you will report to the Engineering Manager, Fleet Management.
Key Responsibilities
The Fleet Management team is a key enabler of Wayve’s autonomy development pipeline. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders—including Research, Safety, Operations, and Infrastructure—to tackle the following challenges:
- Platform Architecture & Engineering Leadership: Drive the technical vision and execution for Fleet Management Tools, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions.
- Fleet Software & Configuration Deployment: Develop reliable tools for deploying OTA updates of software and configurations across a fleet that may not be simultaneously online, ensuring consistent performance, minimal downtime, and rapid iteration while maintaining safety and stability.
- Vehicle Health Monitoring & Diagnostics: Create intuitive dashboards and alerting systems to provide deep visibility into vehicle status, ensuring proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Data Exploration Tools: Create intuitive interfaces that allow scientists and engineers to explore and understand the data and telemetry collected from the vehicles, facilitating better decision-making and faster iterations.
- Fleet Utilization & Performance Insights: Develop reporting and analytics tools that track vehicle usage, system performance, and mission outcomes, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, reliability engineers, and infrastructure teams to continuously improve the platform based on user needs and evolving requirements.
- Full Stack Development: Ensure the delivery and maintenance of high-quality front-end, back-end, and onboard embedded software that powers the company's internal tools, focusing on performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Technical Excellence & Mentorship: Lead by example, writing high-quality, well-tested code and mentoring other engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence.
